Inclusive growth

We as a nation boast on robust economic growth but isn’t’ our growth superficial and peripheral or have we achieved an all Inclusive growth

Economic Growth

Wealth of High net worth individuals soared drastically even though we have not fully recovered from the downturn. With economy knocking 8-10% growth rate rich yet got richer but contrary life has not changed much for a big chunk of peoples for whom the struggle for bread& butter is a never ending battle.

Unemployment

Villagers seeking better life; migrate to the cities, adding inorganic element to the growth of cities; in form of slums and load on the resources like potable water, energy, housing, sanitation and transportation. Unavailability of accommodation results in slums wherein many people share the resources, life in such slums is really harrowing and living condition extremely difficult.

Gender equality

Many of the unemployed migrated workers work on pity jobs like construction sites carrying all sorts of head load and with there children play around the site. Nursing mother taking out time in between to feed there babies and such breaks results in lower pay scale as compared to there counterparts males. Moreover women are seen as physically weaker then men and compromises on wages as compared to men.

Socio economic

Gap between rich and poor is widening, we boast on increased number of millionaires on y-o-y basis; implicitly we mean that in increase in number of poor on y-o-y basis. One side we have plush residential complexes with all the amenities and lavishness; also we have people who stay on pavement, huts on the other side, striving to meet there ends meet

Infrastructure

Overcrowded cities with denizens having higher disposable income putting a lot of load on infrastructure. Rapidly growing cities attracts lot number of people to participate in the growth story and be a part of growth as a result of which cities are running short of roads, portable water, power and hygiene, demand of power, water is constantly increasing and we are always in deficit to meet the demands.

Conclusions: Looking at this I think that the numbers can be indicators for the external world to show that we are not only alive but are growing; but these numbers do not justify growth in its entirety and are not all inclusive.

Worst not yet over for me.

I (a poor/common man) have struggled a lot to reach to a so-so level (which I’m today). Being from a lower middle class family struggle was a part of my day to day life, I struggled a lot for each and every necessicity of life right from my childhood till the day I started earning and so was also the story with my father. Though he is no more today but the legacy (called as Life and struggle) still continues.

Struggle which was and which is; is for reaching to a decent level; a level which is above the existing level (we call it growth), to impart good education and good upbringing to my kids; shape up there carriers and give them the best of amenities and avenues to grow, have a good bank balance and some amenities for myself and my family. I believe except peace and death you can buy everything, virtually everything provided you have enough of money and I am a strong believer of the adage “Money is not everything but before accepting this one should have enough of it”. I have seen people shaping the carriers of there wards only by money. So the extract of the story is money is everything and I’m not able to make money and so I feel worst not over for me.

My bad time started Last year when I was hit by a new monster which I have never heard and though before until he came roaring, he is none other but the recession and my revenue stream (salary) dried up, no no don’t think I was jobless, I voluntarily opted for a salary cut. Some days later a new monster called inflation came up roaring. I was already in a shock and pressure of low margins and on top of this the new monsters ate whatever was left. Day by day the prices of commodities started rising first were grain &pulses, then sugar, than milk and literally nothing is now available cheap, the prices are jacked up by at least twice then what it use to be a year back.

Both monsters, that I have mentioned are getting powerful day by day and I’m running pillar to post to arm myself and to get victory over them. The later one is going to roar more as the oil prices are bound to rise. Come price hike in petrol, diesel, LPG and kerosene and my monthly budget will go haywire. I don’t know whether I will get victory on both of them or not, but if I don’t, then my dreams will crash and my children will inherit “struggle” as an ancestral property.

Petrol has a weight of 0.88 per cent, while diesel has a weightage of over two per cent in the Wholesale Price Index, on the basis of which inflation is calculated and if the prices of petrol and diesel rises, inflation is bound to rise. Petrol and diesel prices, which have gone up by 11 per cent and 8.5 per cent respectively, will increase the inflation rate by about 0.3 per cent, while LPG cylinder would add 0.2-0.3 per cent to the rate clubbing all together we can assume an increase of 1% approx in the inflation figures.

I’m worried about my present as I have stopped thinking about the future as future is always uncertain, but looking at the current situation of mine the present also seems uncertain. You will be interested in knowing whom am I.

I’m a common man the alone bread earner of the family,
I’m a poor watchman at the entrance gate of your society.

I’m a working woman with small children and supporting my family
I’m a farmer cultivating land for your meals.

I’m a daily wager shaping your dreams to reality
I’m a widow having children and no source of earning.

I’m retired person, and fully dependent on my small kitty.
I’m a graduate with ambitions but no money to fulfill them.

I’m a common man and feel that worst is not yet over for me.

Struggle has been an inherent part of my life, a silent monster that has always haunted me during my childhood and has also motivated me to strive hard. It has taught me to be strong and face all challenges in life. I don't want my kids to go through the same, I do want them to realize that there are no free lunches in life but still I don't want to expose them to struggle, as I personally believe that there are other ways to teach children to be mature and responsible. I am going to make sure that my children inherit values and security not "Struggle" as an ancestral property.

2010 Agenda.

This year I believe that as a country we have certain agenda’s which we need to address so that we can grow as individual and as a nation. Country first, growth and golden future for all the Indians should be our agenda for the years to come; Growth should be spreading equally across all the social-economical level and should be visible. The issues that are hampering our growth as a nation and as an individual, there are some issues which are prevailing from last many years and some are the new entrants.
  1. Terrorism: Terrorism has been a set back factor for so many years and not resolved till date there must be some way out to solve the issue, I don’t know but probably it can be solved through dialogues and an amicable solution can be derived.
  2. Employment: After the downturn major of the working professional suffered an economic set back in terms of increments, package and growth and some of them even lost there jobs. The professionals who lost there job are still not able to grab a good job till date. It’s time to create new employment opportunities for the people especially for the people in unorganized sectors for which no one have a clear picture of the level of un-employment.
  3. Poverty: “A country is poor because it is poor” Vicious circle. We as a country should work for eradicating the poverty by promoting entrepreneurship, creating ample employment opportunities, improving public distribution system etc. Given a statistics of some percentage of India not having even one full course meal, how can we take this country to the next level?
  4. Inflation: We all Indians has never felt the heat of inflation as badly as we are facing now a days and on top of it we already have un-employment and poverty as major issue. If the children (who are our future) are not having a nutritious diet then the future is at stake.
  5. Student’s safety: We treat our tourist with respect because we believe that “athithi devo bhavo” a guest is like a god. But our students and citizens are getting a step brother treatment in other nations. The people there are for study or business and directly/ indirectly adding to India’s bottom line growth. Assault/ ill- treatment to Indians outside, is Assault to India and is an national issue and need to be addressed immediately.
  6. Go Green: We as a country have grown a lot and still we have inspirations for growth and industrial revolution. We all did this at a cost of something, and that something is nothing but the nature. We need to preserve the environment for the generations and should adopt and promote all the ways and means to “Go Green”.
  7. Exam fever: Exam fever is taking a toll on students, not able to digest there failure or bear the pressure of exams, suicides are common among the students. There should be some way out to encourage students; counseling by parents, teachers and children welfare organization can help to ease out the examination pressure.
  8. Deep penetration: Schemes meant for upliftment for poor, needy and targeted audience doesn’t reach to them but the middlemen get benefited, some methodology should be devised, so that the needy should be benefited and should reach/ availed by the targeted audience.
  9. Natural Calamities: India being agriculture based economy; our attitude and seriousness towards agriculture is a concern, we all have an understanding that excess or deficit of water is devastating but the actions we have taken to address this issue are not sufficient enough.
  10. Sex ratio: According to the Census of India, 2001, the sex ratio of India stands at 933 which is an marginal improvement from the 1991 Census (927 females for every 1000 males) “Woman Empowerment” should be an important agenda in development efforts

Poor…. Poverty ……!!!!!

“A country is poor because it is poor” and similarly “A person is poor because he is poor” the explanation of this concept can be given by vicious circle i.e. A complex of events that reinforces itself through a feedback loop toward greater instability

Let us first talk about the country and then we will come back to individuals and will see how the vicious circle leading to perpetual events and leading to poor country or individuals

A country is poor because

1) The country have Low capital/ capital investment with the country for progressing and
development
2) Low capital/ capital investment leads to low capital formation
3) Low capital formation leads to lower growth of industries
4) Less industries results in low employment ration
5) Low employment leads to low income
6) Low income cause poverty
7) Poverty cause low saving
8) Low saving causes low investment
9) Low investment again leading to low capital

An individual is poor because

1) He is having low capital to progress and look for earning avenues
2) Low capital leads to low capital formation
3) Low capital formation leads to low income
4) Low income leads to poverty
5) Poverty cause low saving
6) Low saving causes low investment
7) Low investment again leading to low capital
